Cape York Photography

In addition to material objects, from Mapoon, Weipa-Napraunum and Aurukun, which can be sourced by way of the Museum Catalogue, historian Geoff Wharton has identified three collections of photographs held by the Museum:

The first, described as the “Presbytery Collection”, is a series of “lantern slides” dating from the time of Nicholas Hey (1891-1919).

The second contains photographs by Sam and Else McKay who served at Weipa from 1932-1936.

The third collection contains photographs by CJ Miller who served at Weipa and Aurukun between the wars.

The web search function for the Museum is complicated.
